"Minneapolis River Front" by Candice Leick

Posted by Eric Block July 30, 2008

In the mid-1800’s Minneapolis, the city of water, made it mark as the world’s capital of flour milling and a hub for timber. Since that time, this city on the Mississippi has continued to prosper as a progressive culture and cultural community. Candice found inspiration for this particular representation of the city’s riverfront in the works of great artists from the mid-1900s such as Charley Harper who was able to convey the simple beauty of nature with simplified forms and limited color palettes.

This poster depicts the many layers of life in and around the Mississippi, a river that has given rise to incredible life within its habitat, as well as many cities that have risen on its banks.

Please visit again in a few weeks to see Candice's art fully revealed.
